“This Week in the Boardroom” Webcast to Feature Investor Relations and Corporate Secretaries Role in Board/Shareholder Relationship
NASHVILLE, Tenn. & NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Corporate Board Member, a wholly owned subsidiary of NYSE Euronext (NYX), this day announced that the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) and the Society of Corporate Secretaries & Governance Professionals (the Society) will become knowledge partners for Corporate Board Member’s and NYSE Euronext’s “This Week in the Boardroom,” a weekly on-demand webcast program designed to educate board members and C-suite executives on topics and issues that impact their operational and strategic decisions. Through this arrangement, NIRI and the Society will provide relevant content and experts covering key boardroom issues throughout the year.
“bringing the Society’s practical expertise on topics such as board portals and director engagement will add a new dimension for viewers.”
“NIRI is pleased to bring the investor relations perspective directly to corporate board members through this new knowledge partnership,” said NIRI President and CEO Jeffrey D. Morgan. “We recognize the involvement of Corporate Board Member with sitting board members and appreciate its vested interest in the investor relations (IR) function’s role in the board/shareholder relationship and with regard to future trends.”
“With all the regulation, nonbinding votes, and the need to know who your shareholders are, investor relations and shareholder communications has taken center stage. The partnership with NIRI lets us address those issues head-on during the show with knowledge partners who are actually practicing experts in the field,” said Corporate Board Member President TK Kerstetter. Additionally, he said, the role of the corporate secretary in building effective boards has increased; therefore, “bringing the Society’s practical expertise on topics such as board portals and director engagement will add a new dimension for viewers.”
“The Society is proud to be associated with Corporate Board Member and NYSE Euronext in its educational efforts. We believe that our members can bring practical knowledge to the viewers of ‘This Week in the Boardroom’ and will be interested viewers themselves on the important and timely issues covered in the webcasts,” said Society President and CEO Ken Bertsch.
