Environmental Project for The Future Life
The ten most populous and chaotic cities in the world like New York, Rio de Janeiro, Mexico City or Johannesburg, are parts of an ambitious sustainable project that could become “friendly places to live, work and play,” from 2030. A group of architects and environmentalists show alternatives futuristic cities with models, drawings and interactive elements in an exhibition entitled: “Our cities, our future,” exhibited at the Museo Franz Mayer in Mexico City.
Reduce vehicle dependence, promote efficient public transport systems and increase the use of bicycle or pedestrian mobility are some of the suggestions or thoughts on the sample.
The aim of the exhibition is “to reveal all the potential mobility systems and urban development projects focused on the people to redefine a city and make it more pleasant and friendly environment,” Bernardo stated during the tour of Baranda, director for Latin America Policy Institute for Transportation and Development (ITDP by its acronym in English).
All projects demonstrate safe streets and “full of life, promoting economic and social equity, which gives priority to pedestrians, bicycles and public transport and where it is possible to drastically reduce carbon emissions, Baranda said.
The exhibition details the ten “Principles” to change the current schemes in the transport and movement of people and promote a new culture for the movement of people in cities to reduce fuel use.
It also includes a series of photographs, drawings, models, diagrams and drawings, and current projections to 20 years about how they are and would be the cities of Ahmedabad (India), Budapest (Hungary), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Guangzhou (China ), Mexico City (Mexico), Dar es Salaam (Tanzania, Jakarta (Indonesia), Johannesburg (South Africa), New York (EU) and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).
