Ishaq Williams not ready to commit

Ishaq Williams left his hats in his hotel room.

While other top high school football recruits used Saturday’s U.S. Army All-American Bowl as their outlet to choose their future homes by choosing among different hats laid out upon a table, Williams, one of the top players in the country from Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, decided to delay his decision.

“I was not ready too commit right now,” Williams stated after helping the East to a 13-10 win over the West. “I was not comfortable with it so I decided I’m going to wait a couple of days.”

Williams, the No. 29 recruit in the 2011 class and No. 6 defensive end according to ESPNU, had originally been slated to announce his decision during the game, but after speaking with his father, Shaun Williams, he decided around 5 p.m. Friday night that it was not the right time for his decision.

The senior stated he is choosing among Syracuse, Penn State and Notre Dame. This is a change from Friday, when he told ESPNNewYork.com that the University of Miami was still in the mix. He would like to make his decision in the next few days.

He will leave Texas for Brooklyn tomorrow and has to take one final when he returns to school and is still on pace to graduate early. Williams has stated in the past that he is planning to enroll early at whichever school he chooses.

During Saturday’s game, Williams stated he was used in a four-play rotation and estimated that he played about half the snaps. Williams had two solo tackles, including one tackle for a loss. His family, relatives and coach were in attendance.

“It was a great game,” Williams said. “It was fun and it was an honor to be a part of it.

“It was really a great feeling to come off the field after a win and see faces that you know.”
