Region 8 church celebrates future building
JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – After several months of waiting, members of the First Christian Church in Jonesboro celebrated the groundbreaking of their new location at Casey Springs Road and Wood Springs Road. According to Pastor Jerry Wilcox, the new church is expected to hold its first service at the end of this year. Sunday afternoon, almost 50 members of the church held a groundbreaking ceremony, despite construction already being underway.
“It shows the continued progress that we have on the new building. we are hoping the new building will be completed by the end of the year. that is our hope. and the early weather did not cooperate with us but one thing we can do is in the heat, we can build,” stated Wilcox.
Wilcox stated the 1st Methodist Church bought their old building at 901 Main Street. He stated the building was no longer fit for their congregation, citing problems with maintenance.
No specific timetable has been set to start services at the new location.
