MAYVILLE – County budget work is ongoing, both for the current year and the coming year. In his State of the County address back in February, County Executive Greg Edwards outlined four steps being taken to address the county’s impending budget deficit. Emmet calls for two year budget

Emmet County officials are calling for a two-year budget and a 20-year plan to the remedy future shortfalls in tax revenue caused by the sagging area home values. The aggressive plan, proposed by Emmet County Controller Lyn Johnson early last week and approved by the board of commissioners Thursday, will create a nine member committee to outline the long-term future of Emmet County, including future building projects and alternatives to future staff reductions.
