Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor spoke to a sold-out audience on Friday night at the National Constitution Center about her journey to the Supreme Court. Sotomayor spoke to more than 800 people in conjunction with the release of her new book, “My Beloved World.” In 2009, Sotomayor became the first Hispanic and third woman appointed to the United States Supreme Court.

Sea study aims to avoid wind turbine impacts

ALBANY — A new study of sea life off the state’s Atlantic coast will help guide future building of off-shore wind turbines to reduce potential environmental damage. Done by the say Department of State’s Ocean and Great Lakes Program, and the federal National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the two-year study off the south shore of Long Island will help potential wind developers find areas that avoid potential damage to sensitive deep-sea corals, fish and shorebird habitats.
