Council considers development proposal for Alameda Point

Alameda city leaders are proposing an overall development strategy for Alameda Point that breaks up the former Naval Air Station into neighborhoods for possible future homes, stores and businesses. The goal is to jump-start entitlements — the legal process for securing the right to develop a property for a particular use — in the wake of a deal between the city and the U.S.

Borough council split over plans for future homes

A PARCEL of land is at the centre of a row over where future homes should be built in Basingstoke. Last week, the borough council’s economic and prosperity committee looked into why the 2,000-acre Manydown site to the west of the town had not been included in the borough’s plans for future housing.

Call for no more homes in West Felton village

A parish council chairman this day called for a ban on future homes in a Shropshire village amid fears its roads would not cope with an increase in traffic. David Curtis, chairman of West Felton Parish Council, stated he was talking out to protect his community from being inundated with a possible influx of people in new homes with the area becoming larger than a rural village.

Tire Company Praised For Creating Jobs

American Tire Distributors and the owners of its future building were lauded during Tuesday’s Common Council meeting for creating 40 jobs in Oak Creek. Not only are the positions full-time, but also newly-created positions – not jobs transferred from elsewhere.  “We’re adding 40 full-time jobs to what is currently a piece of vacant property,” Alderman Steve Scaffidi said.

Tempe photo enforcement comes to end

TEMPE, AZ – If you drive in fear of getting a pic radar or red light ticket, the city of Tempe will soon be one less place to worry about.   The Tempe City Council voted 4 to 3 to end its contract with Redflex, the traffic camera company. The power will be cut after July 18th. City officials stated a money dispute between Redflex and Tempe is to blame for the cameras coming down.

Council approves ownership of Ionia Jaycees property

IONIA, Mich. — Ionia City Council members approved the conveyance of the Ionia Jaycees building to the city at Tuesday’s meeting.     City officials are wanting to remove the Jaycees building, located at 319 N. Jackson St., because the property is beyond repair.     Not present at the meeting were council members Moncia Miller, Gordon Kelley and Matt Johnson.
