Borough council split over plans for future homes

A PARCEL of land is at the centre of a row over where future homes should be built in Basingstoke. Last week, the borough council’s economic and prosperity committee looked into why the 2,000-acre Manydown site to the west of the town had not been included in the borough’s plans for future housing.

New Oldway Mansion luxury hotel and homes plan unveiled

OLDWAY Mansion has taken a major step nearer a future life as a luxury hotel with the official submission of a planning application. The move comes after months of continued design work responding to comments received from earlier public consultation. Developer Akkeron has dropped controversial houses proposed between the tennis courts and the main road.

Amended Clark Hall plans approved

The Gahanna Planning Commission has approved an amended certificate of appropriateness for Clark Hall that includes two future building sites poised for retail and restaurants. The original site plan showed a phased project with a substantial portion of the old Kroger slab in place, stated Gerry Bird, principal of Bird Houk.

Dear Editor, Public comments at the Milpitas City Council meeting on June 7 made it very clear that local childcare providers depend on city support services that have been cut from the current budget. For many years now, the City of Milpitas has provided excellent support for massive and small childcare businesses.

Affordable housing scheme rejected by builders

An inexpensive housing scheme from Planning Minister Freddie Cohen has been rejected by builders. Senator Cohen wants up to 20% of property on future building developments handed over to the States. The Jersey Construction Council state the scheme is flawed and not properly examined. The council is calling on States members to defer the proposals for further investigation.

Piggery expansion approved

Journalist: Jenny Oldland An application by Port Vincent pork producers Greg and Diana Parsons to extend their commercial piggery was approved by the District Council of Yorke Pen­insula’s Development Assess­ment Panel last Tuesday, April 19. Planning consent was allowed by the panel with at least 10 conditions, including six from the Environment Protection Authority, and a list of 13 notations for the applicants outlining guidelines for future building applications and more.
