Portage schools to host forum Tuesday on potential building improvements

PORTAGE, MI – The public will get its first chance to comment onpotential future building improvements for the Portage Public Schools at aTuesday community forum. Portage Public Schools has set community forums for 6:30 to 8p.m. Tuesday at Portage Central High and 6:30 to 8 p.m. April 25 atNorthern High.

Future Building gives students hands-on construction experience

March 28, 2012 GREG MECKBACH Digital media editor Carolyn Butterworth heard that the construction industry is going to need 160,000 new workers. So the Grade 8 teacher at Whitchurch Highlands Public School north of Toronto took her students to Future Building, a job fair organized by the Ontario Construction Secretariat in Toronto. Butterworth made her comments Wednesday in an interview with DCN at Future Building at the Better Living Centre on the Canadian National Exhibition grounds.

Fairview students learn about skilled trades

About 75 middle school students from Fairview Avenue Public School will attend an interactive exhibition to learn about different skilled trades. “It’s a great opportunity for students to see the different jobs out there that are involved in the skilled trades,” stated Lisa Dunham, a instructor at Fairview Avenue.
